🚨 CONFIRMED! Final GW1 team! 🚨
***UPDATE: I’ve selected van Aanholt in the final spot for Zinchenko. One factor is to reduce the risk of rotation. He was also in my first draft, so it feels right. Zaha stayed at Crystal Palace which increases their attack potential, and PVA is the defender I trust most in the £5.5m price range:
- Top points scorer last season
- Second most clean sheets (12)
- Second in bonus points (17)
PREVIOUS NOTES: Reading up on all the press conferences before posting the final team. Zinchenko will not make my final team. Zinchenko should be ok to start GW1, but I don’t know Guardiola’s plans for his fullbacks after signing Cancelo. I will most likely keep the same team structure with Perez.

Excellent team. Small note on Zinchenko, that’s the final decision for my team, and main difference between our squads. Since I don’t have a final answer, I can’t make a suggestion just yet.
I want to read all the info from the press conferences, go for a nice walk, then decide. I will post my final team at the top of this blog post.

Thoughts on a 4-4-2 with Pope, TAA, Robertson, Digne, Zinchenko (worried about Cancelo), Ayoze Perez, Fraser, Salah, Sterling, Wilson and King/Jota (debating). Planning to wildcard in GW8 whilst making transfers in between but can WC earlier.

Yes, Zinchenko. That’s the final change for my side as well. He should be ok GW1, but Pep has to play Walker and Cancelo eventually because they’re both top defenders.
Great question also with your final forward. I have the same exact thought process as you. Sticking with double Cherries for now because of fixtures and Wolves in the Europa League.
I’ll post the final team after reading up on all the information from the press conferences. Either way, your team is set 💯

Hi. I like it, you should be in good shape with this team for GW1.
My thoughts are that I prefer to watch United for a few games before deciding whether their defense is back to their best. They have top potential with the new signings and of course, De Gea in goal.
Similar for note on Pulisic. Love him as a player and he should become a monster in FPL, especially with his dribbling stats and potential for bonus points.
That’s it really. No major concerns, wouldn’t make any changes. Just some thoughts that are not worth breaking up your good ideas. Your team is ready. 👍

Hi. Zinchenko is the final decision for my squad and we have him in common. I will post that change as soon as I have all the information from the press conferences.
Power 7 in the attack is spot on.
I chose Wilson+King for a few reasons. One is because of their scoring potential based on fixture difficulty, pre-season performances and past knowledge of the players and team. Another reason is because they could be split 50/50 ownership with strong FPL managers. Both players will have high ownership with my direct competitors.
I also like Deulofeu and Jota. Even though he is passed fit, Deulofeu had a small knock this week. I’m considering everything, although that’s probably too far, haha. 🙂 Deulofeu has top potential for the start of the season, you do not have to change him. we can all get big points from different players.
Jota and Wolves have been excellent in pre-season scoring for fun, but their fixtures aren’t the best. To be fair, they can raise their game against stronger opponents… The other note is their involvement in the Europa League which can cause issues with rotation and focus in the league. But we don’t know how they will react until it happens.
The point is your team is ready for GW1. Even Zinchenko should be set to start as Cancelo only just signed. Eventually that could become an issue, so it’s the last decision for my own team. I will update the final team once I have all the news.

It’s strong overall. Small note on Pereyra as he may not start GW1. He arrived late from the Copa America and I don’t think he played any pre-season games. Still, he and Watford have great potential at the start, and he could even deliver returns if he comes off the bench.
To fit Salah Sterling and Kane, it will require cuts. The way you’ve done it seems the best option. It’s a reason why I’ve gone without Kane, but there is no right or wrong, both of our teams can score big points.

Excellent team. The only note is Zinchenko as Man City signed fullback Cancelo from Juventus. Even though Zinchenko should be safe for GW1, I don’t know Guardiola’s plans for rotation.
I’ll post my final replacement for Zinchenko on this blog after reading all the info from the press conferences.

How do you feel about Bernardo Silva? He has never started against west ham for pep but with de bruyne match fitness in question and sane out I imagine he will be in the wing, I think squeezing Bernardo with sterling and Salah could be a deadly combo but run the risk of rotation and not having a guy like Fraser or Sigurd who u know are the playmakers for that team. Bernardo stats look weakly appealing, I think he going to build on the last two seasons or at least maybe get off to a hot start with sane out and mahrez in question as per last year, but pro like starting mahrez against west ham

Bernardo is one of my favorite players. Agree with you completely. One reason I chose Siggy is because Man City have so many options for Bernardo’s position. Someone will have to sit out eventually, especially when Champions League comes around. Siggy doesn’t have competition with a similar player at Everton. I also like Everton’s fixtures.
Can’t go wrong with either player and I’m staying open to a change after GW1.
