FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE 2015/16 REVIEW
FPL How did you do?
After all the ups and downs, are you happy with your Overall Rank? What is your target for next season? We can’t thank you enough for exchanging ideas with us this season. The number of comments we received this season went way beyond anything we imagined. Thanks! 🙂
GW38 Review
Shocking development from Old Trafford as Manchester United’s match versus Bournemouth was abandoned for security reasons. Points from the rescheduled game will be tallied onto managers’ totals.
Spurs completed a disastrous end to the season with a spectacular 5-1 defeat at already relegated Newcastle. To make matters worse, the Magpies played most of the second half down a man. Did Pochettino run his players into the ground?
After hearing the surprise news of Payet’s injury, we made a last-minute transfer to Andre Ayew (10PTS). Ayew scored a free kick goal in first-half stoppage time for a massive extra 10PTS! With Sunderland safe from relegation, we decided to bench Defoe. Big Sam made 9 changes to the team including dropping Defoe.
We were hesitant to take a -4 transfer hit to bring in De Bruyne, so we kept and started Mesut Ozil (6PTS) instead. KDB blanked while Ozil bagged an assist and 6PTS. Aguero’s assist meant 10PTS for our captain.
Fitting end to the season.
A strange, fitting end to one of the most unpredictable FPL seasons ever. And it’s not over yet! Last week, our Overall Rank was 65,646. We anticipate a finish in the top 1-2% overall out of 3.7 million.

Fantasy Premier League strategy.
For the past 8 years, our team has finished in the top 1-2% of all players. Our strategy is risky. We start slow and build team value by making 1-2 transfers each week. We save on goalkeepers and defenders and load up with expensive midfielders and forwards. By January, we can stack the full team with the most valuable players and come from behind to pull into the top 1-2% of all managers. See our previous finishes HERE.
Stay ahead of your competitors!

Thanks a million guys for all the help and tips. I followed your strategy and slowly built team value- about 500k at Xmas and 80 points behind the leader in my 10 player cash league.
And it worked out just like you said!!! Won the mini league 125 points clear, and OR is now 41k, due mainly to your great advice and captain picks that sometimes verge on witchcraft!!
Enjoy the Copa and Euros guys. Have a great summer and see you next season!

Building team value is your secret weapon. 😉 It gives you the option of bringing in premium players others can’t afford. That doesn’t mean you have to, but you have that advantage.
500k and 80pts behind in the mini-league, to 41k overall and 125pts ahead is massive! Well done.
Captain picks were very difficult this season. Pulling these off this season masked a lot of low-scoring gameweeks for us, saving us time and time again in the most unpredictable season ever. Glad it worked out for you as well.
Thanks, we’re gonna have a blast this summer playing Crossbar Challenges, hitting target goals, FIFA 16 etc… Facebook and Twitter aren’t set up yet, but feel free to follow us there if you’re bored this summer. The social media accounts all end in /playwingive
Thanks for the ideas throughout, and see you next season!

Hi Upper!
I know I haven’t posted in many a post but I have been following faithfully! This strategy seemed to have helped me since I managed to catch up the 200 points gap in my mini league. At GW 36, I went clear of the top by 40 points and ended up winning the league with my failed GW 37 score of 29 pts.
So thank you to an amazing season of tips, I really appreciate it. This has been my best season so far, highest ranking of 235,438 after the Aguero 5-goal tip and my final overall ranking of 914,517 for this season. Definitely my best so far, total pts: 1,953.
I guess this is my new benchmark and I can only get better now! Can’t wait for next season.

Wow, catching up on 200 points is no easy feat, congrats! The final week was strange, as was this entire season. Well done winning your league as well. 🙂
Hopefully we can help you get into at least the top 250k next season.
Great to hear your comment, and see you next season!

Hi Guys,
Thanks for all the insight. I finished with 2045 points. Hope to see you again next season.
Any chance you will be playing euro fantasy?
Upper 90 Studios
19/05/16
That’s a strong points total for such an unpredictable season, congrats! 🙂
Not sure if we will have enough time to focus on Euro fantasy since it would require watching most of the games. We have an exciting, but busy summer ahead as mentioned on the blog post.
Thanks for your support and see you next season. 👍

Hello Upper90,
After a profitable GW37 I finished this FPL2015-16 with another slight bend upwards in GW38.
The Rashford-goal on Tuesday (+ Simpson for Defoe) eventually lifted me from 76k to 65k.
Would be nice if you’d update your latest ‘figures’ after this delayed match!
I discovered your blog about half-way the 2015-16 season and have enjoyed it very much since than!
Besides getting good advise the mere opportunity to share thoughts and reflect on choices of others is of great help.
And, yes, there were occasions I admired your adequacy ( . . . Shane Long in the last GW’s, a.o. . . . . )
I can be generally satisfied with my FPL-season, although improvements can still be made.
As I mentioned earlier, this was my fourth FPL-commitment and it shows progression:
421.725
299.546
170.845
65.865
For me an important issue for next season is not to lose so much ground in the early stages again:
This time I had to fight back from 1.865.863 OR in GW5!
Having captained Aguero in his 5-goal-feast in GW8 luckily propelled me forward and from there I gradually worked my way up.
Reached my highest OR in GW32:
36.884.
Than my carefully saved ‘chips’ did not exactly deliver what I had expected:
The WC, TC and BB in 2 DGW’s where profitable in itself, but the in-between GW’s were very ‘meager’.
Four consecutive GW’s of red arrows were eventually ’repaired’ by two ‘green ones’ in the end.
It tells me to change my policies with the ‘chips’, at least a bit (especially the ‘rotation-thing’ is tricky).
Also reached my highest team value in GW32: 108,9 (just before the ‘chips’).
It was fun to see how close the FPL-championship was.
I do agree with the the winners advice in the interview (as also frequently repeated in your comments ;)):
Find some ‘reason’, but ‘think out-off the box’ and eventually ‘trust your gut!’
Thank you very much for your always elaborate and attentive replies!
Looking forward to join in for 2016-17!

Hi. Congrats on a strong finish! 🙂 We ended up the same rank as you 65k. Will update soon.
That’s a fantastic Overall Rank in the top 1-2%, can’t ask for much more in such an unpredictable season.
Yes, we offer our advice, but many commenters on here are strong FPL players. We never discount anyone’s opinion and are always open to advice and tips from readers.
Looks so good to see your progress, a good target to beat for next season. 👍
We tend to start slow as well and pick up steam in the second half of the season after building team value and investing it on premium players.
Our chips were all just “ok” as well. The plan for the chips next season is less planning, more instinct.
Appreciate your support and tips. Absolutely trust your gut, even over our advice.
Thanks for the nice words, and looking forward to exchanging ideas with you again next season!

Hey U90!
What a season it was indeed! That was my first full season (last year I started a few game weeks late) and I manage to get 2177 points, no 66019 in total. I was unlucky though that in my mini league I had a friend in super duper form who reached no 15 in total! So no chances there. He won the head to head too although I gave a good fight there. I found out later that he was spying my comments here in u90 so he knew my indented moves or even final moves beforehand! I stopped writing but it was too late 😛 Lesson learned!
But on the other hand I had a great run in ultimate fantasy football! Its a bit different to the normal one but I find it more challenging as you have more players (25 in total) limited transfers in the beginning of the season and then you run with the same 25 player team till January when the transfer window opens for 4 weeks. You can make loans of course in between (with minus points) and you can do subs and even change a captain between the match days! Has elements of fantasy mls. I know ff is more popular and has more restrictions but if you play uff then ff is almost like a demo version of a video game if you get my drift. Plus uff has money prizes every month (there is 5pounds registration fee though). In uff I finished top 384 and I won my mini league and manage to get no2 in my country league! I challenge you to try it next year! You dont need a new account. You can log in with your ff account in both.
Anyway enough of my uff preaching! Now focusing on fantasy mls (feeding the addiction) till next season!
Cheers!

Hey! That’s an impressive rank 66k, congrats! 🙂
That’s unreal that someone was spying your comments here! Maybe if we can set up an app or some way to post your team privately, it might help. We’ve suggested before that people don’t share our FPL blog to keep this as sort of a black box of tricks for themselves. Judging by the website traffic, comments and email subscriber growth we’ve seen this season, that’s not working!
Ultimate Fantasy seems interesting. It sounds like there’s more skill involved than pure luck, which is something we endorse. The Chips this season added a huge element of luck into the game which we didn’t particularly enjoy. Nice to see the prizes offered and the registration fee seems fair. Seems you did well with it this year! 🙂 It’s tough to focus on all the different types of Fantasy games since each require putting in lots of time and focus. We’d rather do one thing really well than many things just ok, but we’ll give it a look. 👍
Thanks for the comment, and have a great summer!
John

Just wanted to say thanks for the tips on my first season doing FPL. Next season gonna do it completely on my own though and figure it out on my own but thanks for helping me rise from 2 mil to 100k

You’ll do great on your own. We don’t usually use any sites to get our tips, mostly instinct first with some research second. 👍
