FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE 2015/16 REVIEW
FPL How did you do?
After all the ups and downs, are you happy with your Overall Rank? What is your target for next season? We can’t thank you enough for exchanging ideas with us this season. The number of comments we received this season went way beyond anything we imagined. Thanks! 🙂
GW38 Review
Shocking development from Old Trafford as Manchester United’s match versus Bournemouth was abandoned for security reasons. Points from the rescheduled game will be tallied onto managers’ totals.
Spurs completed a disastrous end to the season with a spectacular 5-1 defeat at already relegated Newcastle. To make matters worse, the Magpies played most of the second half down a man. Did Pochettino run his players into the ground?
After hearing the surprise news of Payet’s injury, we made a last-minute transfer to Andre Ayew (10PTS). Ayew scored a free kick goal in first-half stoppage time for a massive extra 10PTS! With Sunderland safe from relegation, we decided to bench Defoe. Big Sam made 9 changes to the team including dropping Defoe.
We were hesitant to take a -4 transfer hit to bring in De Bruyne, so we kept and started Mesut Ozil (6PTS) instead. KDB blanked while Ozil bagged an assist and 6PTS. Aguero’s assist meant 10PTS for our captain.
Fitting end to the season.
A strange, fitting end to one of the most unpredictable FPL seasons ever. And it’s not over yet! Last week, our Overall Rank was 65,646. We anticipate a finish in the top 1-2% overall out of 3.7 million.

Fantasy Premier League strategy.
For the past 8 years, our team has finished in the top 1-2% of all players. Our strategy is risky. We start slow and build team value by making 1-2 transfers each week. We save on goalkeepers and defenders and load up with expensive midfielders and forwards. By January, we can stack the full team with the most valuable players and come from behind to pull into the top 1-2% of all managers. See our previous finishes HERE.
Stay ahead of your competitors!

Greetings U90S,
Thank you very much for the season. Can’t wait for next season.
I will be quite busy for next season to follow the games but I am hoping I can manage to stay in touch with U90S. And I will be free until mid August so that should be enough to prepare my team?
Next year I am going to do it right. I have got to kick my friends’ as^es in our mini league. :v
This year was my first proper year. Last year I just enrolled and let it be (ghost team). But this year I wanted to learn and I think I have learnt a lot. Thanks to you guys.
So my performance:
Total points: 1997 (with Valencia yet to play)
Highest points: 142
Lowest points: 30
Highest hits: -36, and -16 (consecutive GWs, jeez. That’s when I started to fall)
Overall Rank: 633355
Highest Rank: 154706
Total Transfers: 85 (lol, and this will so not happen next season)
Highest Team Value: 109.2
I am not sure if I should exclusively “learn” something from this season given the cries about how this season was so unpredictable and chaotic. Yet, as newbie I must say that patience and knowledge along with belief in one’s guts are the most vital. Along side that listening to people like you for fresh and different perspective is also important.
Few points I figured. Please correct me if I am off somewhere.
– First half = Try to make good TV
– Save the transfers
– Wait for the right moments with the chips (better to use them after winter break unless very good clear opportunity shows up). Bench boost = DGW.
– Don’t rush for transfers and hits.
I remember very clearly rushing to find the best mentors and after 3-4 places I got into this place where my search stopped. It’s been great hanging out.
Until next time…
Adios
And kudos to your ability of catching up with all us users here.
Best wishes

Hi. thanks so much for exchanging ideas with us this season. By posting your team, it not only give us ideas, but helps us question ours so we make more accurate choices.
Can’t believe you did a -36 hit! We’ve done -12 hits more than we should over the years ourselves, but -36 is wild. 🙂
What’s interesting about your stats is the high team value. If you can balance increasing team value with the number of transfers you make, you’ll be in great shape next season. As more money trickles into the lower teams, things become more unpredictable which makes it harder to set accurate predictions. For that reason, we’ve become more conservative with how many transfers we make each week.
You’re right, watching the games and trusting your instinct is by far the most important strategy in FPL.
Your points are spot on. We’re going to be more open to using the Chips early on in the season. We’re not big fans of the Chips ourselves because it takes away some of the skill involved, but if it makes it more fun, then we’ll take it!
Thanks for the nice words, and see have a great summer!
David

top 2% I think is a more accurate headline – at least for now (1.58% – with de Gea to come)

At one stage this season, we would’ve taken 5%.
1-2% is more accurate and in line with our history in FPL. It speaks more to us. Maybe De Gea can bring us closer to 1%, but for now, headline is corrected.

First time I used your advice, and very good it was too! Good bank and finished (two Man U players still to go) with 2,266 points. Many thanks, Dextes’s 15. See you next season.

That’s awesome to hear, thank you. We love every minute.
11k rank is phenomenal! 2249 points? We’ve only gotten higher than that once in 8 seasons. It’s a big accomplishment, congrats. 🙂
See you next season.

Missed your Payet news, & didnt want to take a -8 to bring Ayew/SOU in.
So that has me 23 points, GWR 2.6mn, my worst ever ever.
Yet I’m still inside my 5% target, over the season its not been bad.
Mistakes I made.
#1 buying premium players bcos I could afford to
#2 ignoring payers from ‘little’ teams too long
#3 overthinking
#4 too much buying/selling on short term results
Not mistakes
#1 upper90 – obviously
#2 basing defender purchases on a 6 week Clean Sheet prediction
(who they face rather than past games)
#3 Using TC in a DGW
Not convinced BenchBoost is best used in DGW unless combining with wc week before, even then I outscored most people without using either.
AOA is I think a throwaway to be used anytime you feel, doubtful its worth more than 2 points average.

Payet was a rumor, nothing official. Only one known media outlet picked up on it, the Express. This week was the most appropriate finish to this season. Top players blanking and less-known players delivering.
5% target is excellent! If you offered us that finish around GW25, we would’ve taken it in a heartbeat. 👍 We managed to push up a bit after the Wildcard on GW25, but around that time we struggled at 600k OR.
Mistakes
#1 Premium players were a let-down, especially in the 1st half of the season. Having Sanchez, Ozil, Aguero, Kane etc late on did give us an edge, so we’re keeping this as a strategy for the future.
#2 We were guilty of this as well. Players like Mahrez and Ighalo went on a tear and we have never seen this before, so it took some time to accept that Leicester simply weren’t going away.
#3 Guilty of this. We switched the strategy at GW25 and started trusting our initial transfer ideas. It was all green arrows after that.
Not mistakes
#1 Thanks!
#2 Might come as a surprise, but we don’t plan much further than 1-3 games ahead. We take a quick look at the long-term only to see if there are any major problems. Team and individual form changes quickly, so a big part of how we predict a strong lineup is to focus on the very last game.
#3 as with all the Chips, we may pull them out earlier next season and not necessarily in a DGW. Using in a DGW failed for us this season, but that’s not to say it won’t work in the future!
Thanks for the top-notch advice and exchanging ideas. 🙂
