FPL GW5 Team
🚨 Final GW5 Team! 🚨
TRANSFERS OUT: Wan-Bissaka, Mané
TRANSFERS IN: van Dijk, De Bruyne
***UPDATE: Two transfers close to deadline: Wan-Bissaka and Mané out for van Dijk and KDB (-4 hit). Not taking a chance in case Newcastle lock things down away as they did versus Spurs already this season. Norwich have no defensive players, I prefer Man City attackers this round. Watching another round of games to assess form and potential, leaving enough flexibility to upgrade any position – defense, midfield, forwards. Thanks for your patience and good luck everyone! 👍💯 -Bruno
Previous updates.
Still deciding who to sell, Wan-Bissaka or Maguire. Not happy to see Wan-Bissaka at 50%, although he was pictured with the United squad. I might end up taking a chance on Maguire against his former club… Vardy vs. Maguire sounds like a really good time! 🙂
No early transfers. There is a 2-week international break that could see surprise injuries or players benched GW5. Waiting until the press conferences before making any moves, but that doesn’t mean we can’t plan ahead.
I’m considering making another video for GW5 with the top picks and high-risk players to avoid. Can’t wait to watch the rest of the games (except Man United) and do some research. I appreciate your positivity, stay tuned! -Bruno

GW5 transfers and positive action plan ✅
CAUTION! International duty.
Some Premier League players will be away with their countries during the two-week international break.
This increases the risk of injury and rotation GW5. My plan is to hold off on early transfers, even if it means missing out on price changes. The press conferences should provide more clues close to deadline. If you’re on a Wildcard, you can rest easier. 👍

Hey Bruno, even with Newcastle playing a deep line I still captained Salah because he was rested but Sterling is in form right now but he did play in the weekend and there is UCL after GW5 so Pep might rotate him. So I still can’t decide who to captain for GW5, please help me out with this!!!🙏

Hey. Not an easy one. As you said, there could be some surprises with rest and rotation and midweek Champions League.
Both Man City and Liverpool are traveling for their games after GW5. Liverpool will have one day less rest than Man City, SAT+TUE versus SAT+WED.
As far as the surprises, Salah has a lower risk of rest/rotation and is a great captain choice.

I want to bring in Aguero there is still one day left of my wildcard and if I bring in Aguero I have to lose Mount,Vardy,Arnorld and Vestegaard.
This is how my team will line of Aguero comes in:-
GK:- Pope,Button(bench)
DEF:- Digne,Lumdstrum,Kelly,Rico(bench) and another 4.0mil defender(bench)
MID:- Guendouzi,Maddison,Salah,Sterling,KDB
FWD:- Pukki,Aguero,Greenwood(bench)
Is this team worth I !wan Pep might rotate Aguero for UCL but he will still get a lot of game time. So should I stick to my current team or use this team? Thanks for your help Bruno!!

There’s no easy solution. I can share my thoughts, then it’s up to you to decide. 👍
Taking both Aguero and Sterling with KDB and Salah will force deep cuts in other areas like the defense.
Kelly could be facing a battle against the regulars who are close to returning from injury – Dann, Sakho and Tomkins. They also bought Cahill. The bench isn’t ideal, and every factor counts, although I can understand it if it means having such a strong attack. We’re still early in the season and investing more on the starting XI over the bench is reasonable. Frustrating that Rico didn’t feature in the last two games after Daniels suffered a long-term injury.
4x premium attackers feels riskier but has a high points-ceiling. We know what Aguero is capable of any Gameweek. Sterling is not far behind and he has high ownership with strong FPL managers. This approach adds pressure on a few players to deliver big points, but they are more than capable!
3x premium attackers and a stronger defense – Liverpool DEF + a regular starter – feels safer with better protection against strong FPL managers.
Take the two teams and add up the points potential that you might get on a consistent basis. We can’t predict what will happen with Champions League and rotation. No attacker is really safe, especially under Guardiola. Even Sterling and KDB aren’t 100% safe.
It depends on your style and approach with the Wildcard. You could go for it with 4x big-hitters which requires some weaker players in the final starting spots. Or build a well-rounded team so you don’t depend on fewer players to deliver the points.

Hi Bruno, hope you had a great international break. Looking forward to your GW5 selections and would appreciate your thoughts on my potential GW5 Team.
But 1st, as always I enjoy your music and videos.
Plan 4-5-1 formation and 2 transfers GW5
Pope (Button)
Digne, TAA, Lundstrom, Wan-Bissaka out for either VvD or PvA (Kelly on bench, not sure he’s fit)
Salah, Sterling, Mount, McGinn. Mane out for KdB.
Pukki, (Greenwood, Wickham)
Wondering your thoughts at the back:
With KdB for Mane and VvD for Bissaka, that leaves me with 0.9M in the bank
With KdB for Mane and PvA for Bissaka, that leaves me with 1.8M in the bank for a potential midfield or forward upgrade or to adj as we start Champions & Europa League.
Would appreciate your thoughts on the above, if those transfers make sense and on the formation,,,,I’ve never had this much money in the bank this late in the season, sort of unsettling.
Thank you for all you advice.

Hi. Still working on the transfer plan. No major changes, just minor tweaks because of Wan-Bissaka at 50% with zero bench cover. I will add my final transfers and team before deadline, but it’s likely to be AWB out for VVD and Mane out for KDB. 👍
£0.9m ITB might not be enough flexibility going forward, but is £1.8m enough to bump up to at least Barnes next week? That’s close to my plan, leaving enough ITB this week without committing to anything just yet, allowing for a change in formation or other improvement after GW5.
Know what you mean with the money ITB. I feel the same way, not usually like this. But the international break is always a blow to form in FPL, so I’m taking it game by game and keeping my options open.

Hi Bruno
Hope you’ve sorted your team, and can’t wait to see your next vid.
I was wondering if you could give me a bit of feedback on my latest foolhardy idea?
I have 1M ITB and 1 FT. I was thinking of losing Firmino and downgrading a Defender (for a -4 hit), to give me enough to buy either Aubameyang or Kane.
Current team as below………. Am I being stupid??
Ryan
TAA, Zinc, Digne, Lundstram
Sterling, Salah, De Bruyne, Guendouzi
Firmino, Pukki
(Button, Cantwell, Kelly, Wickham)
🤔 Cant decide on Captain, or even who to bench out of Cantwell and Lundstram.
Any help appreciated 🙏
Cheers Baz

Hi Baz. I may not put up a video this week. Needed all the time to think, and still thinking! But I will post my transfers and final team as soon as I finalize the plan.
Hard to downgrade the defender, not sure who to cut. Kane/Auba are great players, the question is whether their teams and attacking potential can be fully-trusted like Liverpool + Man City.
Leaning toward starting Lundstram and captaining Sterling against Norwich’s weaker defense.
Your team is so close that you could consider giving it another round of games so you have better information. 👍

Pope (Button)
VVD Zinchenko Zouma Lundstram (Kelly)
Salah Sterling KdB Lanzini (Dendo)
Lacazette Pukki (Greenwood)
1Ft, 0.2 itb
I just took in Lacs for a hit, bit I already regret. Think Haller is the best bet for this GW? Zouma also a big problem.

Hi. Can’t believe the Lacazette news. Close between Vardy, Barnes and Haller. Vardy and Leicester are looking good in the attack.
Barnes has excellent fixtures, but there is the small injury problem. He has to deliver now with good upcoming fixtures.
Haller has decent fixtures and growing ownership with strong FPL managers. That’s also worth noting.
Hard to choose one after the international break because if affects individual and team form. Any of the three could work.
Keep an eye on Burnley and Brighton defenders this week.

Should I bring in Ashley Barnes? If I do then I would have to transfer out Greenwood,Mount and Vestegaard. This is how my team would line up:-
GK:- Pope,Button(bench)
DEF:- Digne,Arnorld,Lundstrum,Mings(bench),Kelly(bench)
MID:- Guendouzi,Salah,Sterling,KDB,a budget mid(bench)
FWD:- Pukki,Vardy,Barnes
Should I just have faith on my current team or go with this?! Thanks for all your help over the weekend!

Liking this team. 👍 Of course there is a small unknown with Barnes at 75%, but he should be ok and upcoming fixtures are green.

Hi Bruno! Hope you doing great! Waiting like a horse in the stalls to hear your transfer plans! I am so torn between benching AWB and just dealing with my team or trading out AWB and Mane for TAA and De Bruyne. Whatever I do I am sure it will backfire! I am trying to stay positive. Last week I took a -4 to fix half my team. Scraped by on 41 points minus my hit. I guess my question is more related to taking hits rather than sending my team becoz I know there is never a right answer as anything can happen in football. Is it still ok to take Hits for the likes of TAA and KDB or am I just desperate becoz of my red arrows. Personally I feel that even if they blank this Gw, the long term benefits would justify. Unfortunately I am not clever enough to transfer players in and out based on fixtures becoz although I check the cheat sheet I tend to end up with played conflicting. I am enjoying this a lot and not taking anything to heart. I am the only lady in my league so can’t come last!! Your advice on hits will be so appreciated. Even though there are so many Twitter and online opinions, yours is the only one I trust. Many thanks

Hi. Doing well thanks! I’m on the same boat with the transfers. Didn’t expect AWB to be listed at 50%, although he seems to be in the United squad. Still, it’s hard to take that risk, so I may sell him instead of Maguire for a Liverpool defender, then Mane out for KDB with more Man City attacking cover against a depleted Norwich defense.
Don’t think taking hits is a desperate approach. It’s perfectly reasonable in this situation. United still haven’t cut out the individual defensive mistakes – they face a good attacking side next – and AWB is an injury doubt. TAA and KDB are top options, although in my case, I’m leaning toward van Dijk to be 100% safe during Champions League season. My bench is super weak and also full of injuries, I don’t want to risk being a player short.
The best way to use my tips is to take whatever makes sense to you. Hopefully I get more things right than wrong! 👍
I’ll post the transfers and final team before deadline. Taking every minute before tonight’s price changes. Thanks for the update.

Hey. Nothing final just yet. Will publish an update when I make a transfer possibly tonight. Then the final team before deadline.
Thanks for the patience, Ive been deciding who to sell first Maguire or Wan-Bissaka. Don’t want to take a risk with AWB missing out as my bench has some injuries this week.

Hi Bruno,
Greetings from Singapore! I love your content, in-depth analysis and the cool intro music! I know everyone appreciates how hard you work to get the videos out as well as answer everyone’s comments. Keep up the good work!
It’s been awhile since I last posted a comment and I desperately need your advice. I had a dismal 42pts in GW4 and need to make a comeback. Here’s my team:
Heaton (Ryan)
Robbo, VVD, Digne, Lundstram, AWB
Salah(c), Sterling, Mount, (Dendoncker, Perez)
Rashford, Pukki, (Greenwood)
Here’s what I have in mind…
(1) Take a -4 hit
AWB & Perez > Hanley/Rico & David Silva
(2) Take a -8 hit
AWB, Perez & Rashford > Lowton (or any DEF costing 4.5m or lesser) , KDB & Wesley
(3) Any other options
Bruno, I’m tempted to get rid of both AWB (out injured) and Rashford but my gut tells me that Man Utd and Rashford will bounce back tomorrow (despite Pogba’s latest injury). What’s your take on Rashford? You think he’s worth keeping since he now plays wider? On a separate note, Dilva had a good rest (as compared to KDB) and should start tomorrow. However, I’m a little worried as KDB has got a much better ownership and the Cityzens may run riot against a hapless and decimated Norwich. Nobody from the team is safe from the Pep Roulette and may get their minutes managed as they travel to Ukraine on Monday to prepare for their midweek CL match.
What do you think of Wesley? Villa’s fixtures look pretty decent in the next 5 gws. At this moment, I can’t decide between options 1 or 2 but am slightly leaning towards the former as I don’t wanna take too many hits at this juncture. I held back using the WC as I think my team just needs 2 to 3 transfers to make it right. I’ll get rid of Robbo for a cheaper defender after GW5 and use the ‘profit’ to bolster my forward line. For this reason, I’m leaning towards option (1) as I can easily swap Rashford for Vardy in GW7 or upgrade Dilva to KDB in GW6.
Last but not least, which of the two GKs should I start with and who’s your captain pick for this gw? My heart tells me Salah (well rested) but my head says either Sterling or KDB (considering the Canaries’ long injury list).
Bruno, please advise if you have any other recommendations and many thanks once again for your valuable feedback!
Good luck and wishing you green arrows for the upcoming gw 💪
Cheers,
Dylan L

Hi Dylan,
Thanks for the nice words, always great to hear that! 🙂
Same here with last week’s score, but we can bounce back quickly.
1) Small concern over David Silva being 100% nailed-on as we aproach UCL. Hanley/Rico would be just bench options.
2) Liking this mainly for KDB, Burnley defensive cover also helps. I don’t have the best assessment of Wesley at this moment and can’t rate him properly. The hit is tricky to make up straight away, but can work in the long-run. Might prefer Barnes or Haller in that forward spot, but I’d like one more game to assess the forwards. The International Break breaks form in FPL.
3) Not seeing an easy way to bring in KDB without dropping at least Rashford. Hard to predict how United will do with their main players, even harder without. It’s possible the replacements will put in a shift, but it’s not easy.
I can tell you my plan. I’m thinking of selling AWB, moving for KDB for the reasons you mentioned, then scouting the best forward so I can possibly make that transfer GW6. But I’m also open to not making that move at all… There are other possibilities, I’m taking it game by game and leaning toward a -4 hit.
That’s why it’s difficult for me to suggest the -8 hit even though I like KDB and the defender in this plan. EDIT: If forced to choose, I might try Option 2.
Super close between the GKs, struggling to choose one, sorry!
Leaning toward a Man City attacker against Norwich’s defense also. Sterling has a higher ceiling than KDB, but either could work. Salah also in the mix, but it’s harder to predict how Newcastle will perform as they can sometimes put in a shift in away games as we saw vs. Spurs already this season. The positive for Salah is he was fully rested in the break and has a lower risk of rotation than any Man city attacker under Pep including Sterling, KDB and Aguero.
Good luck! 👍
