FPL GW5 Team
π¨ Final GW5 Team! π¨
TRANSFERS OUT: Wan-Bissaka, ManΓ©
TRANSFERS IN: van Dijk, De Bruyne
***UPDATE: Two transfers close to deadline: Wan-Bissaka and ManΓ© out for van Dijk and KDB (-4 hit). Not taking a chance in case Newcastle lock things down away as they did versus Spurs already this season. Norwich have no defensive players, I prefer Man City attackers this round. Watching another round of games to assess form and potential, leaving enough flexibility to upgrade any position – defense, midfield, forwards. Thanks for your patience and good luck everyone! ππ― -Bruno
Previous updates.
Still deciding who to sell, Wan-Bissaka or Maguire. Not happy to see Wan-Bissaka at 50%, although he was pictured with the United squad. I might end up taking a chance on Maguire against his former club… Vardy vs. Maguire sounds like a really good time! π
No early transfers. There is a 2-week international break that could see surprise injuries or players benched GW5. Waiting until the press conferences before making any moves, but that doesn’t mean we can’t plan ahead.
I’m considering making another video for GW5 with the top picks and high-risk players to avoid. Can’t wait to watch the rest of the games (except Man United) and do some research. I appreciate your positivity, stay tuned! -Bruno

GW5 transfers and positive action plan β
CAUTION! International duty.
Some Premier League players will be away with their countries during the two-week international break.
This increases the risk of injury and rotation GW5. My plan is to hold off on early transfers, even if it means missing out on price changes. The press conferences should provide more clues close to deadline. If you’re on a Wildcard, you can rest easier. π

Hi Bruno,
My team is as follows:
Ederson (button)
Digne VVD Lundstram Dunk (Rico)
Cantwell Son Sterling Mane KDB
Pukki Barnes (Wickham)
I have 2 transfer for gw5, was wondering should i swap out sterling for salah as he looks very dangerous in attack. By doing that i might choose david silva to be my 3rd mcity player and replace son, what are your thoughts?
Do you think david silva is a good option? Any other advise for my team?

Hi. Hard to suggest selling Sterling ahead of Norwich, although I can understand your concern not having Salah.
I would avoid David Silva for my own team, but it’s up to you. There’s a risk he may not start every game with so many strong attackers at Man City.
Difficult question. You might be ok to hold on and see if the international break gives more clues.

G’day Bruno
I’m thinking of dropping Maguire and Mane for VVD and KDB, should I hold of on the transfers and wait or just pick them up now.
Cheers

Hi. I would suggest waiting until closer to deadline before making any move. KDB is playing important Euro qualifiers (one against Scotland), while Mane might be fully rested. I have to check exactly which players are playing this international break.

Hi Bruno,
Awesome music intro as always. I love em. Any link to download? I can use to play during office hours and chill.
Thats the spirit! Bounce back stronger. Im in the same boat as you so i know how it feels.
Apart from that, i think plan B will work wonders however there will be rotation in liverpool after international break. Was thinking of Matip for cheaper option however he might be rotated with Gomez. We see how the international break goes, hope thereβs no injury. Til then, rock on and i wait for your next video!
Cheers,

Hi Midzi. Thanks! Yes, all the songs are available to play or download on the “Downloads > Music” tab at the top of the page.
It was a pretty awful feeling on Saturday, it brought back memories when I first realized that trusting my instinct 100% wasn’t working like it used to. That was around the same time FPL influencers on social media became popular.
We can still find the right spots to drop in a differential, but not owning 2-3 key players set me back 20pts.
Was thinking of Matip also, but September will be interesting with midweek UCL. I might go ultra safe when choosing the Liverpool defender, still thinking. Keeping a close eye on key players this IB!
Thanks for the great comment. π

Hi Bruno.
Time for all of us to bounce back ! thinking to be a bit more agressive at this stage is the way to go. I did have all the right moves in my head prior to gw 4 such getting kun and james but somehow played safe and kept FT and lost potential 18 points, even more as i would defo cap kun if got him. I know there is two weeks break and im still willing to make few key transfers despite to have safeguards as you mentioned. So far made two transfers: rash/awb to barnes and TAA for free. Totally commited to have three pool and three manc players as a core of the team with flexibility to jamp on cheaper players with favorable fixtures.
Currently have Mane, TAA, Sterling, KDB and now planning to take a hit for either Dilva (not playing in internationals) or Firmino pls advise which one. after gw 5 will decide on third pool or manc spot.
ps. if i may advise to you my friend i would prioratize getting KDB and pool def meaning losing one of manu def and pool mid.
cheers

Hey buddy. Good! Nice transfers, I’m waiting until closer to deadline, but I can understand your thinking.
I would avoid D. Silva just in case he gets used for the UCL games in September and rested in the league. Firmino is interesting.
Your advice is exactly what I have in mind. π

WC available. Biggest concern: no sterling.
Thoughts on taking -20 in hits so far instead of WC. (-8,-4,-8)

Hi. Hard to tell who will come out on top Sterling or Salah. Playing aggressive early on can be an effective strategy. Great work. π

I’ve decided to use my free transfer to bring in TAA, should I take the -4 hit and bring in KDB for Mane
Upper 90 Studios

That’s what I want to know. Plan A: LFC defender (no hit). Plan B: LFC defender, KDB (-4 hit).
Watching KDB in the two Euro qualifiers before deciding.

Hi Bruno
Thanks for your brutal honesty and transparency. All the best with your team “repairs”.
I’ve been using your advice of sticking to the ‘template’ and it’s been working well so far (OR=243k).
My Team:
Ryan (Button)
TAA; VVD; Digne; Zinchenko (Lundstram)
Salah; Sterling; KDB (Cantwell; Dendonker)
Pukki; King (Greenwood)
FT=1; ITB=1.2
Currently, I have Pope and one of Abraham/Barnes/Haller on my watch-list to replace Ryan & King respectively.
1. Which one of Abraham/Barnes/Haller (or anyone else in that price range) do you think is better to bring in?
Ryan & King’s fixtures don’t look too bad so…
2. Do I save a transfer and ‘wait & see’?
3. Do I use my FT? Which transfer would you suggest?
4. Do both transfers for -4?
Any other advice you might have for me
Thanks
Grant

Hi Grant. Thank you. The easy thing was to hide the team and score, but I’m glad I did because people have been so supportive. And it even helped others who were having a difficult season. That’s an amazing feeling to help others.
I always played 100% instinct and could get away with it, but my rank started declining as FPL content creators became more popular on social media. Straying too far from the experts’ template became riskier. We all used to have different teams, not anymore.
1. Not sure yet. I might follow suit soon. I haven’t watched all the games yet, need to do more research.
2. Possibly. Let’s see if we have any surprises this international break.
3. Maybe King as you mentioned, but it needs more thought.
4. Ryan is fine unless he starts dropping points against Pope. I like Brighton this season, they were impressive against Man City playing out of the back so calmly. I couldn’t believe it, it was the complete opposite on Man United playing out of the back.
Looking good for now. Just a decision on King if needed.

I had topped all the leagues I played until this GW. For the first time I scored below the average (55 points). The captaincy choice was the major difference for me. I captained Salah. I brought in Kelly and kept Martial as a sub. The thinking behind this was that the International Break should give Martial enough time to recover. I really had no option to bring in KDB. And he is a player whom I really want. The only option I see is to take -4 hit and bring him in. Perez has been a sad inclusion for me and he is definitely going to be my next transfer. I am even considering using my WC to get back to the template of the top 100 teams. I am having way too many differentials to my own liking.
Now regarding your situation, hard luck. Good that this happened early in the season. See the positive side and hope you score big GW5.

Yes, great plan and 55pts is a strong score.
Ayoze Perez has been a big disappointment. I thought he would at least be settledafter the first few games.
Know what you mean with too many differentials! It used to work before the Twitter template became a thing. Now straying far away, even not owning 2-3 key players can mean falling behind strong competitors 20pts in one round.
Exactly, it’s super early. I turned it into a positive because it was a wake-up call to not trust my instinct blindly. There are other factors to consider.
Thanks for the advice and positive words. π

Taking your great advice and holding off on any moves for a week at least.

That’s funny. Yes, some important Euro qualifiers this international break. Players won’t be caosting through these games.
Good luck with your fantasy team!

Sorry to hear about your gw Bruno. Did not have the best myself at 50 points, but still believe in my team (0.6m ITB) π
Ryan
TAA – Digne β Soyo β Kelly β Lundstram
Salah β Sterling β Bruyne β Martial β Mount
Pukki β Barnes β Greenwood
(Already used my 2 FT to do VVD + AWB -> TAA + Soyo)
Now I hope it was worth it to keep Martial, well next gw will tell…
Mendy seems to be back soon, so will stay off city def until i know whether Zin or Mendy will play.
Def is my weakest point, but dont see any to sacrificial lamps to upgrade def right now (maybe Barnes later on). At least they all play so they can rotate, and the 3 of them do rotate rather well.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I’ll believe in my team after 1-2 transfers! π
Can understand the reasoning with Zinchenko.
Team is strong overall. Defense has key safeguards in place. No concerns.
