***UPDATE: This is it. I’m experimenting with a new Wildcard strategy – to keep a sizeable amount of money in the bank. Normally, I would maximize the squad strength by using all the funds. If everything goes well, I can improve the squad depth or make small corrections. If it goes wrong, I can use the money to counter Wildcards GW4. I do not recomment this “all-star” bench for anyone. 🙂 It’s a massive risk GW3. If Digne is out, I could be down a player. Trying something new, good luck everyone!!!

*Provisional GW3 Wildcard team. Waiting on the last press conferences before confirming these players. Salah returns to the squad in place of KDB. Maguire and Martial also come in.
*The questions about the bench… sorry about that! 🙂 I don’t have one, I’m going with the cheapest bench players. This frees up the maximum ITB funds to match up against Wildcards GW4. Super risky, never really tried this before on an early Wildcard. Digne might not even play which could leave me a player short GW3.
*I am keeping an eye on price changes here: http://fplstatistics.com/ I may swap out some of the players in my team temporarily by staying up-to-date on the price changes. For example, I’ve brought in KDB for Salah, but I will likely have Salah in my team by deadline.
*Lucas Digne looks to be back in training.
*We also need an update on Lucas Digne who was forced off with a hamstring injury.

A somewhat odd gameweek. Defence stars hardly delivered and besides Mo Salah, Sterling, Cantwell and Mount, lots of forwards delivered- Aguero, Pukki, Barnes,Vardy, Haller, Abraham,Wesley, Jiminez etc…… is the tide turning for forwards or is it a temporary blip……
What happened to the build up at the start of the season when everyone was recommending loading with premium defenders……
At this stage, after playing my wildcard 57 points with GW 3, it appears green arrows from 180k 0R to around 99k OR, so not a bad gameweek, considering I captained Sterling over Salah and my defence not delivering.
What to do now for GW4, that’s the big enigma. Stick or twist…..
My current team is as follows:
Ryan;(Button)
Wan Bissaka, Maguire, Digne; Zinchenco;(Lundstram)
Salah, Sterling, Mane;Martial;Ceballos
Pukki;(Wickham);(Martinelli)
ITB-0.2m
My transfer options I am considering ahead of gameweek 4- possibly soon to beat possible price changes(some tonight) are :
Option 1(-4):
Digne> Kelly to fund; Martial> De Bruyne
Kelly appears starter and Palace tighter at the back with Cahill now and play at home to Aston Villa
Man City play at home to Brighton and De Bruyne appears to have his spark back and possible price rise tonight. Also cuts down risk of 3 Man U players and Everton’s poor current form.
This assumes Ceballos starts gameweek 4 though.
Option 2(-4):
Digne> Robertson/TAA
Ceballos>Cantwell
Cantwell possible price rise tonight and one would expect Liverpool to keep some cleansheets going forward.
Also reduces risk of Ceballos not playing GW4.
Option 3(-4):
Martial>Madisson to fund Ceballos>Mount
This option gets rid of Ceballos risk of not starting and Madisson also appears to have reasonable form.
Option 2(0):
No transfers; Bank free transfer for after GW4.
Risk is Ceballoss possibly not starting, with Lundstram as cover off the bench. If Zinchenco doesn’t start could be a player short. Also assumes Martial is fit to start.
Based on my team above and options, which of the above transfer options would you recommend.
Also, are there any other options that you would recommend to strengthen my team ahead of GW 4, as I’m not sure I have covered all the main options- especially the Ceballos risk and your view thereon. Also do I need another Man City player.
Your valuable feedback and insights would really be appreciated.
PS: The VAR referral system appeared to miss quite a few issues this weekend, including a few almost clear penalties- just to default to the on-field referee’s decision- surely this process is flawed currently to protect the on-field referee and not in the interest of fairness to teams and neutral fans.

Hi. Yes, it was another round of no clean sheets for most premium defenders. That was one reason for my Wildcard, to shift funds from the defense to the attack. Forwards turning it up now, we’ll see if it sticks.
Option 1. Can understand the idea, but I would be cautious selling Digne, especially if Iwobi and Kean start from here on. right, not sure if Ceballos starts either.
Option 2. Good one. Not completely sure about Cantwell as a starter, especially with Pukki+Cantwell vs. Man City GW5.
Option 3. Liking this a lot. Need an update on Martial. Mount might be ok as an early transfer, it seems like it was only a dead leg, minor knock.
Option 4. Not feeling this for the reasons you mentioned, Ceballos.
Leaning toward Option 3. 👍
I’m a fan of technology, but not whatever this VAR is currently. Martial pulled down in the box, David Silva stepped on… VAR never stepped in on these key decisions.

Hi Bruno, looking at manc play and their fixtures to come it becomes obvious having 3 players is a must. already got sterling and kdb so the question is would you recommend this move:

The problem is Gabriel Jesus should return after the international break, so I might stay away from Pep roulette for my personal team.
But it’s up to you because you’re right about city’s potential.

Hi. One player close to being dropped is Perez. I would consider Mason Mount as a replacement. Maybe this could allow a move for De Bruyne in place of Bernardo? Depends on funds.
Those are the players I would play with to come up with a plan. If it requires an extra move, that might also be worth considering.

If forced to sell one of the defenders, I would also drop Zinchenko. Cancelo is fit now and Mendy could return after the international break, possibly sooner.
Digne should be better if Iwobi and Moise Kean start from now on.
It’s a tricky situation with Martial, because even if he is fit, it’s hard to ignore KDB. One positive in favor of Martial is he and KDB have similar ownership stats with strong FPL managers (in the #Elite64 league).
Your new team with KDB and Mings is excellent, so it’s not easy!

It’s my first year playing FPL and I’ve been following you since the start of the season. I also used the WC at GW3. I would like to know your opinion on my current team and my potential future team.
My current team :

Based on the performances since GW3, I’ve realised I made a mistake with going 4 at the back and would like to restructure my team with 2 free transfers & -16 points:

I would really appreciate your oppinion on this as I dont want to be left behind in my friends leagues. I am not sure if it is worth taking -16 points. Or, are there any other suggestions or advice that you would like to offer?

Hi. I’ve never taken a -16 point hit. the biggest I’ve taken is a -12 hit. It doesn’t mean it can’t work, but it’s harder to justify bigger hits when we’re seeing low-scoring Gameweeks.

^^^ This team is already super close for GW5. There is a concern with 2x Norwich vs. Man City, but City will be without Laporte who is a massive influence.
I don’t see an easy way to make the switch without cutting deeply into the defense. Defenders made a jump back up the rankings this week, so I’m hesitant to suggest making cuts on the defense.
There might another way, which could be to sacrifice a premium midfielder, but that’s not going to be easy. Out of the 4, Mane has the lowest threat to your rank because he has a lower ownership with strong FPL managers.
That’s my only note. I would consider being patient and holding on, your switch that cuts the defense which is tricky timing-wise, and the alternate plan.

Hi Bruno. Enough is enough. United are dirt at defending and can not be relied on. I see you had a disastrous week like myself. I know you watch the elite 64 and choose players on performance instead of fixtures but i think overall that ain’t working and the fixtures are playing a bigger role compared to performances. Wan Bissaka for me has to go. I know mendy and cancelo are almost ready but in comes zinchenko for a while at least and i also had maddison like you but his fixtures are not easy so in comes james and i can’t ignore abraham any longer after earlier today so in he comes for a 4.5m striker. I just have to spend that cash itb and strenghten the team. I recommend you do sonething similar mate.

Hi. I would suggest waiting. It’s a long two weeks with key players featuring in important games for their countries like the Euro qualifiers. They won’t play easy like a friendly.
But it’s up to you. If it means being priced out of the move completely, sometimes the risk can work.
