LIVERPOOL USA PRE-SEASON TOUR 2019. Liverpool suffered a 2-1 defeat to Sevilla at Fenway Park in Boston on their second game of their United States pre-season tour. 35,654 fans were in full voice, which impressed Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.
It was a great atmosphere. Really, really cool to play in a historical place at Fenway Park.
This match was anything but a friendly. Sevilla’s aggressive approach gave it the feel of a true European tie, and the Liverpool first team players battled to halftime tied 1-1. Klopp made 11 substitutions at halftime, sending out his youth players. But a reckless tackle by Sevilla’s Joris Gnagnon on Yasser Larouci soured the game. The Sevilla man was shown a straight red card, rarely seen in a friendly match. Despite being down a man, Sevilla went on to win the match 2-1 thanks to a 90th minute goal.
