League leaders since October, Man City waited until March to relinquish their lead to rivals Manchester United. And what a terrible time to do it.
Why didn’t Mancini start Sergio Aguero? That’s the difference between Manchester United and Man City! The pressure is on (squeaky bum time) and Ferguson goes for it against West Brom with Welbeck, Hernandez, and Rooney up top. Conversely, Mancini tries to play it safe and sticks Balotelli alone up front against Swansea while leaving their top scorer on the bench. Loser mentality = loser results.
After being completely dominated in the first half, Mancini panicked and sent Aguero for Gareth Barry before halftime. Not surprised by Barry’s reaction to being subbed before the half! He walks off the pitch and throws a huge hissy fit while yelling at the coaching staff. Barry sits down on the bench, rips off his cleats and throws them half way across the pitch! What if Nani did that to Ferguson and his staff? He’d get those boots thrown right back into his face and then he’d be shipped off to Spain in the summer for ridiculous money like Fergie did with David Beckham then Ruud van Nistelrooy. No player is bigger than the club, except at Manchester City (and Chelsea).
Man City simply can’t cope without their captain Vincent Kompany who they lost to a calf injury in the Europa League game versus Sporting midweek. Their replacement? Stefan Savic! It was Savic again who was guilty of giving the ball away which led to Swansea’s winning goal.
If you’re a Manchester United fan you would’ve loved when Micah Richards scored a tying goal with two minutes left… All the City players and fans celebrated but unbeknownst to them the lineswoman had correctly raised her flag for offside. Mancini already lost his job to Mourinho while at Inter. Will history repeat itself if Man City ends the season trophy-less after all the money they’ve spent? As Mancini would say, “I’m bery appy…”
Leaders since October and it’s all gone just like that (snaps finger). Now Mancini is panicking so he brings back Carlos Tevez and it’ll completely destroy that locker room. Balotelli, Aguero, Dzeko… it’s almost too perfect.
